Humdrum

In late 2000, James began producing experimental tracks for Bad Taste.  His first few tracks were more of an experimentation of musical arrangement, than of the sounds and sources themselves.  As his style progressed, his sound morphed from strange off-rhythmic collages to distorted bass heavy tracks layered in circuit sampled sounds and crunchy rhythms.  Often fond of sounds stemming directly from connecting RCA cables to various circuits of broken electronics, Humdrum’s first album was appropriately named Brokin in late 2006 and has since been released by Bad Taste.

Over the past couple of years, James has played a handful of live shows incorporating a blend of his circuit sampled sounds and records ranging from hard techno to electro bass to breakcore and noise.  Humdrum has also been part of the loosely collective group of artists known as animalswithinanimals.  He currently has three tracks featured on the most recent animalswithinanimals album, Parts Is Parts.
