Cinematic by nature, No Fortune incorporates a number of musical elements. The Asian tinge of “Unoriental” starts the EP off nicely with its playful flute and laid back sitar breezing over the top of its hollowed percussion. Slipping behind the shadows of the darker toned “Clouding Alex” and the moody down tempo of “Return to Earth”, shows F/Switch’s tendency to create a numbing atmosphere, while keeping the deep dance floor just at the edge of your feet. Closing out the EP is an uplifting piano melody nestled in a solid break creating the slow building epic, “Fallen Horizen”. This is the first release for F/Switch, whose EP was compiled from sessions working on Alejandro Marin’s short film, “No Fortune”. This is not a sound track and some of the songs in this release are not featured in the film. |
